Cardamine

For Feest van de Geest, I collaborated with Max Peters on an immersive audiovisual installation exploring the theme “Elkaar verstaan” (“Understanding One Another”).

The installation was inspired by the idea of resonance: the moment when a message truly connects and people find themselves on the same wavelength. This idea is translated into an immersive experience that depicts a transition from chaos to harmony. Max’s music reflects this journey as well. Beginning in a subdued atmosphere filled with barely intelligible voices and abstract sounds, resonant elements gradually emerge and take over, culminating in a powerful climax. Simulated echoes, stereo panning, and the church’s unique reverberation further enhance the spatial quality of the sound, creating a rich and enveloping experience.

My work investigates how mathematics and technology can be used as creative tools for artistic expression. Using the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), I developed an abstract visual experience in which shapes and colours continuously emerge, merge, and dissolve. The result is a contemporary interpretation of stained-glass windows. Previously, I created work for Museum Prinsenhof Delft, where I presented a digital diptych across two church windows. Continuing this exploration during Feest van de Geest, I projected onto the ceiling of the beautiful hidden church at the Bagijnhof in Delft.
